    A ghost's guide to London: Christmas special: Part 1

    Lord Jeffrey, the Ghost of London, takes students on a thrilling audio tour of London at Christmas time. In the first part of this two-part special, students will: learn about the Christmas lights of Oxford Street; practise listening for gist and reconstructing audio stories from memory; focus on the meaning, form and use of positive and negative colloquial expressions and practise these expressions in two personalized speaking tasks.

    Lord Jeffrey, the Ghost of London, takes students on a thrilling audio tour of London at Christmas time. In the second and concluding part, students will: learn about Christmas traditions in Britain; practise listening for gist and reconstructing audio stories from memory; focus on the meaning, form and use of Christmas vocabulary and practise this vocabulary a personalized speaking task.

    A marathon, not a sprint

    This lesson, which is based on an article from Business Spotlight magazine, is about London hosting the Olympic Games and the disruption and challenges this may cause people living in the city. Teacher’s notes cover strategies on introducing an element of competition. Student activities include a test of Olympics knowledge, a key vocabulary crossword and a London city file to complete.

    The bus stop

    This mini-play features a man and an elderly woman talking about mobile phones and the environment while waiting for a bus. The lesson contains a downloadable mp3 audio file and a lesson plan with student worksheets and teacher’s notes.
